Malaysia are guaranteed a mixed doubles title at the Swiss Open after Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai ensured an-all Malaysian final showdown after winning their matches in straight games.

Chen-Toh dispatched Chinese Taipei’s Ye Hong-wei-Lee Chia-hsin 21-16, 21-12, while last year’s finalists Goh-Lai carved out an impressive 21-18, 21-16 success over Dutch duo Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek.

Chen-Toh were first to book their berths after easing past their opponents with a brilliant all-rounded display.

The Malaysians defended well, and turned a lot of the rallies into a counter-attack with their quick turn of the pace.

Toh shone especially in her defence, even resorting to some last ditch defending by diving to retrieve the shuttles.

Chen, meanwhile, was fired up in the back court as he mixed his gameplay by creating chances through his drop shots which he followed up with smashes mainly targeted at Lee.

This pair will come in as favourites against Goh-Lai, but will have to be at their best against this independent pair who have played well all week and are raring to do one better than last year.

The world number 14 pair have beaten two well playing European opponents to reach the final, having also overcome top Danish pair Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje in straight games in the quarter-finals.

Either way, Malaysia is set to continue its excellent record at the Swiss Open.

Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah won the women’s doubles in 2021, while Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin reached the 2022 men’s doubles final.

Goh-Lai then came so close to clinching last year's mixed doubles title, only to lose in three closely contested games against China’s Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin.
