Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai kept Malaysia’s hopes of winning a first BWF World Tour title of the year after they reached the Swiss Open final, as Lee Zii Jia and Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi both fell in the semis.

Goh-Laim who finished runners-up at the Super 300 event last year, would surely aspire to go the distance against China’s Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin on Sunday.

Goh-Lai’s victory on Saturday proved the only saving grace as two other representatives fell in the semis.

Lee was not his usual self as the shuttler bowed out following a 11-21, 14-21 defeat to Japanese Koki Watanabe.

Ong-Teo were much more resilient against Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, but in the end lost 19-21, 21-17, 17-21.

The other final match-ups pit Rena Miyaura-Ayaka Sakuramoto-Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota in the women’s doubles, while Ren Xiang Yu-Tan Qiang face Satwiksairaj-Chirag in the men’s doubles.

Mia Blichfeldt takes on Pornpawee Chochuwong in the women’s singles, and Chou Tien-chen beat Viktor Axelsen in straight games to face Watanabe.
