Sudirman Cup: Zii Jia surprised by own amazing shots against Tien Chen
The confidence of the Malaysia team at the Sudirman Cup is at an all-time high after finishing top of their group, with Lee Zii Jia leading the way not just in performance, but also in his 'Siuu' celebrations.
The men’s singles ace delivered his latest victory over Chou Tien-chen in some style on Wednesday, winning in straight games 21-14, 23-21 to end a four-year losing streak to the Chinese Taipei star.
But it was not just the victory that has caught the nation’s attention, rather it was some of the outstanding shots he played in both games, which even caught him by surprise.

“I was surprised I could play those shots, it has been a long time,” he said with a wry smile.
“It was a revenge victory after the head-to-head wins. I dealt with the pressure and was patient. We have fought each other many times, so we know each other well. He is an experienced player and knows how to handle tense situations well.
“I needed to keep my focus and I am proud of myself for delivering that point,” added Lee.
The world number eight first produced an athletic pirouette in the first game, and topped that shot with two sensational saves in the second as he was on his knees.
