Newly crowned Orleans Masters champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were among the Sudirman Cup formidable line-up announced by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) on Wednesday.

As expected, the likes of Lee Zii Jia, Ng Tze Yong, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi, and Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah made the 20-member shortlist announced for the team event to be held from May 14-21 in Suzhou, China.

With Goh Jin Wei and promising women’s singles shuttler K. Letshaana also in the mix, the national contingent will be out to get past a challenging Group C consisting of India, Chinese Taipei and Australia.

In the last edition in 2021, Malaysia reached the semis as they were knocked out by Japan.

Meanwhile, Lee Chong Wei was appointed as badminton team manager for the country's Road To Gold Programme.

Lee is expected to play a more hands-on role with the 11 shuttlers selected for the programme created to win Malaysia its first Olympic gold medal.

“This is an enormous opportunity, and if appointed I am ready to take it on and play my part to help Malaysia,” said Lee.
