The mixed doubles comprises of Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai and Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, while the likes of Leong Jun Hao and Cheam June Wei will join the rest of their compatriots to make up the men’s team.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) are confident of winning gold for the men’s team event.

“If our preparation is good and everything goes to plan, there is a chance for gold. All teams have an equal chance,” said national doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky.

Malaysia last won gold at the Asian Games through men’s doubles pair Koo Kien Kiat-Tan Boon Heong at the 2006 edition.

The country has yet to taste success in the men’s and women’s team.

The rescheduled Asian Games was supposed to be held last year, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
