Malaysia Masters finalists Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah were forced to concede a walkover at the Singapore Open as Lee Zii Jia also exited on Wednesday.

In the women's doubles, Tan-Thinaah had done well to level proceedings after losing the first game against Japan’s Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi, but the former couldn’t continue in the deciding game with a troubling right elbow, eventually conceding the walkover at 9-16.

Tan had injured her right elbow in the first game that was later bandaged.

Meanwhile, Lee suffered another early exit after he lost 20-22, 21-16, 19-21 against China's Weng Hong Yang.

The Kedah-born was tipped to win the first game when he netted 10 consecutive points to lead 16-12, but ended throwing away the lead to play catch up.

He did well to win the second game, but left it a little too late in the deciding game to crash out.

Earlier, Ng Tze Yong did well to beat Nhat Nguyen 21-17, 18-21, 21-15, to set up a meeting against recent Thailand Open champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

In the men’s doubles, eighth seeds Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi had no problems seeing off Christo-Toma Junior Popov 21-18, 21-13, a victory that pits them against Indonesia’s Pramudya Kusumawardana-Yeremia Erich next.

Two Malaysian mixed doubles pairs – Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai – also confirmed their second round berths after easing through on Wednesday.

Chen-Toh face Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek, while Goh-Lai are up against Hong Kong’s Reginald Lee-Ng Tsz Yau.

Goh Jin Wei, Cheam June Wei and Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing joined Lee in exiting after the first round.
