Shi Yu Qi shines for China at Sudirman Cup despite 6kg loss to stomach issues

China lifted the Sudirman Cup trophy for the 14th time on Sunday, with Shi Yu Qi playing a key role in their campaign by winning all five of his matches in dominating fashion.
In the final against South Korea on Sunday, Shi recorded his easiest victory over Jeon Hyeok-jin whom he disposed 21-5, 21-5 in 33-minutes.
The Chinese lived up to his world number one tag from the quarter-finals stage, after brushing aside Leong Jun Hao 21-6, 21-14, and dished out an equally lethal performance to beat Kodai Naraoka 21-8, 21-16 in the quarter-finals.

Shi’s form is even more impressive by the fact he recently lost 6 kilos due to stomach issues in the lead up to this team event.
He showed no ill-effects in the Sudirman Cup, beating all his opponents in dominant fashion to inspire China to yet another title in this team event.
Shi’s form will be a concern for all the top men’s singles shuttlers, especially with the World Tour set to resume with a packed schedule.
With shuttlers such as Viktor Axelsen and Lee Zii Jia still out of action due to injury, Shi will aim to build on this performance in the coming months to pull further away from his competitors.
Shi could next head to Kuala Lumpur for the upcoming Malaysia Masters (May 20-25).
