Malaysian female shuttlers' team event was over as soon as it began at the 2019 SEA Games after losing to Thailand 0-3 in the semi-finals on Monday.
After getting a walkover from Cambodia, the game against Thais was their first piece of action.
World number five Ratchanok Intanon brushed aside Soniia Cheah 21-17, 21-14 in the first game before women's pair Rawinda Prajongjai and Puttita Supajirakul took down Chow Mei Kuan and Lee Meng Yean 24-22, 21-18.
S. Kisona tried to muster a comeback against Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the decisive third game but eventually fell to a 21-15, 11-21, 12-21 loss.
The defeat meant that Malaysia shared the bronze medal with Singapore, who lost 1-3 to Indonesia in the other semi-final tie, and failed to reach the women's team final for the first time since the return of team events 2015.
