Malaysia mengharapkan ihsan daripada juara sepuluh kali, China, untuk menumbangkan India bagi menempah slot ke suku akhir.
Walaupun China menggunakan barisan pemain kedua, ia masih tidak mampu digugat India bermula dengan beregu campuran, Wang Yilyu-Huang Dongping, meraih kemenangan 21-5, 21-11 ke atas Pranaav Jerry Chopra-Sikki Reddy.
Seterusnya, giliran Chen Long mengukuhkan kedudukan buat China apabila mencatat kemenangan mudah 21-17, 22-20 ke atas Sameer Verma.
China kemudian mendapatkan mata ketiga -- yang turut mengesahkan laluan buat Malaysia -- selepas beregu lelaki, Han Chengkai-Zhou Haodong, menundukkan Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty 18-21, 21-15, 21-17.
India semakin longlai dalam dua perlawanan seterusnya membabitkan perseorangan wanita, Saina Nehwal, yang gagal menyaingi Chen Yufei sebelum tewas 12-21, 17-21.
Beregu wanita, Cheng Qingchen-Jia Yifan, memutlakkan kemenangan China apabila mudah mengatasi Ashwini Ponnapa- Sikki Reddy 21-12, 21-15.
China ke suku akhir selaku juara kumpulan selepas meraih dua mata manakala Malaysia di tempat kedua dengan satu mata.
