Ketiadaan saingan Piala Thomas yang telah ditunda buat kali keempat ekoran penularan Covid-19, Persatuan Badminton Malaysia menganjurkan saingan dalaman bagi memastikan barisan pemain negara kekal bersedia dalam fasa untuk kembali ke pentas kompetitif.
Terbahagi kepada kedua kumpulan, format lima perlawanan terbaik menentukan pemenang dalam saingan Piala Presiden edisi kali ini.
Bermula dengan dengan acara perseorangan, Lee Zii Jia turun dengan aksi cemerlang ketika mengatasi Cheam June Wei 22-20, 21-18 untuk memberikan mata pertama buat kali Kumpulan A.
Saingan beregu menyaksikan Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi dari Kumpulan A mempamerkan kejutan untuk mengatasi Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik 23-21, 21-13 sekaligus membenarkan mereka mendahului 2-0.
Pemain perseorangan kedua Kumpulan A, Ng Tze Yong, memastikan kemenangan pasukannya apabila mengatasi Leong Jun Hao 21-19, 21-11.
