Pei Jing heartbreak after seventh final defeat with Jimmy

Lai Pei Jing was heartbroken after she lost her seventh final with partner Jimmy Wong at the Korea Masters mixed doubles final on Sunday.

Lai-Wong turned in a valiant performance, but could not get past their South Korean opponents Kim Jae-hyeon-Jeong Na-eun and lost 22-24, 18-21.

Lai later took to her socialmedia to indicate how she felt about the loss.

While she offered no words, the 33-year-old posted a picture of her silver medal with a heartbroken and a tearful face emoji.

It is understandable disappointment for the senior shuttler, who had worked so hard on her blossoming partnership with Wong.

The world number 37 pair had previously lost in six other finals at the Macau Open, Vietnam International Challenge, Phuket International Series, Reunion Open, Indonesia Masters 1 and Indonesia Masters II.

But there is progress in defeat, with the world number 29 pair reaching their biggest final as a pair on Sunday.

The Malaysians were also up against 2024 Olympics silver medalists Jeong, who used her big game experience to guide her partner.

Lai-Wong will have little time to dwell on this defeat as they prepare for the Kumamoto Masters which begins in Japan on Tuesday.
