Pearly-Thinaah expected to be top three pair in the world this week

Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah’s gallant run at the Indonesia Open where they reached the final will see the Malaysians move into the world top three rankings on Tuesday.

Tan-Thinaah are expected to move into third on the world rankings to overtake current occupants Baek Ha-na-Lee So-hee.

This is because the South Korean pair failed to defend their title in Jakarta, having lost in the semi-finals.

Despite missing out on the Indonesia Open title by a whisker against world number one pair Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning, Tan-Thinaah will be recognized as the world’s top three pair.

It is nothing more than they deserved, having reached their third final on the World Tour final this year.

Tan-Thinaah also finished second at the Indonesia Masters in January, before winning the Thailand Open title last month.

“Not everything that was said about us is true, but we chose not to respond with words. We didn’t win the title, but found something even more powerful, strength,” they said.

National women’s doubles head coach Rosman Razak said he had been working on different strategies with the pair, and it looks to be paying off.

“We have been trying new things on court. There have been plenty of positives, but there is still room for improvement,” he said.

In order for Tan-Thinaah to keep improving under Rosman, they must first remain with the national association.

The pair have yet to sign their contracts, and are expected to meet with the association’s top brass soon to decide their future.
