Pearly Tan- M.Thinaah will return home from the World Championships with a  women's doubles silver medal after they went down fighting against Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning in Sunday's final.

The Malaysians lost 14-21, 22-20, 17-21 in an epic battle against the world number one that lasted 83-minutes at the Adidas Arena in Paris.

Despite the defeat, Tan-Thinaah can be proud of themselves for coming this far.

No Malaysian women's pair have ever made it to the world meet final, and so they will still make history as the country's first World Championships women's doubles silver medalists.

The world number two also gave it their best shot in this epic final, as they stormed back to win the second game in gritty fashion after losing the opener.

The third game saw the Chinese top pair hold their nerve against the resilient Malaysians who fought for every shuttle until the final point.
