National contingent departs for Sudirman Cup in high spirits

The national contingent left for the Sudirman Cup in Xiamen, China on Thursday in great spirits as they aim to eclipse two semi-finals finishes in the previous editions.
There were several uncertainties in the national camp in the lead-up to this team event, among which were the separation of Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and also rumors of Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah leaving the national setup.
But with Chen-Toh reuniting and Tan-Thinaah in great spirits and working hard in training, the focus to unite as a team and do well is evident.

Tan, who was named as co-captain alongside Leong Jun Hao, was all geared up for the Sudirman Cup.
“I’ve been waiting for two years for this event. I can’t wait to play in the group stage and experience being in a team event, which is different from playing individually,” she said.
The contingent engaged in simulation matches, had internal team games and celebrated the birthdays of Man Wei Chong and Go Pei Kee as part of the team building.
Malaysia are in Group C alongside France, Japan and Australia.
They will open their campaign against France on April 28.
