Myisha Khairul’s breakthrough success to win the Dutch International women’s singles title on Saturday couldn’t have come at a better time, with Malaysia preparing to contest at the Uber Cup next month.

The prodigious teenager defeated team-mate Siti Nurshuhaini 21-19, 18-21, 21-19 to mark a perfect tournament after coming through the qualifiers to go the distance.

Myisha said she wanted to use this as a stepping stone for bigger successes to come.

“This is definitely motivation for me to do better, and I am eager to keep this momentum going. As for the match itself, it was a close affair because we know each other’s game so well. I’m delighted it finished in my favour,” she said.

Myisha’s victory came after she was included in the Uber Cup contingent list released by the national body last week.

At 328th on the world ranking, Myisha would be behind the pecking order with S.Kisona (57th), Goh Jin Wei (88th) and Eoon Qi Xuan (131st) expected to be fielded as three women’s singles shutters.

While Kisona and Goh should get the nod as the first two women's singles, Myisha could contend for the third spot with Eoon.

Eoon only played one match this year to date, while Myisha already featured in two other European events in Estonia and Sweden earlier this year.

Malaysia were drawn in Group C of the Uber Cup alongside Thailand, Denmark and Egypt.

Myisha, meanwhile, also received an RM10,000 cash incentive from the Johor state government for her victory on Sunday.

Her Bukit Jalil Sports School coach Poh Chai Boon described the shuttler as someone with movement and stamina advantages on court, adding she had the potential to be a top player in the future.
