Malaysia’s victory at the 1992 Thomas Cup will be depicted in a movie called ‘Sentuhan Wira’ that is scheduled to start filming in November.
33-years has since passed since the country’s biggest badminton achievement happened, and it will deservingly be brought to life on the silver screen.

Fans will be especially excited to know that Rashid Sidek and Cheah Soon Kit, who played key roles in that historic victory against Indonesia, have been appointed as the movie’s advisors.
Rashid and Cheah are directly involved in the movie’s script development, research and ensuring the accuracy of that final victory is conveyed in the best manner to the audience.
The movie will be produced by Victory Pictures, and directed by Lenny Ooi, who previously directed films such as ‘Kepong Gangster’ and ‘Shuttle Life’.
A nationwide casting will be held soon to find new local talents, while established Malaysian actors are said to reprise the main characters.
In the 1992 final, Malaysia beat Indonesia 3-2 at the Stadium Negara, with Rashid, Foo Kok Keong and Cheah-Soo Beng Kiang delivering the points.
Previous Malaysian badminton movies include ‘Lee Chong Wei: Rise of the Legend’ and ‘Gold’, which told the story of Cheah Liek Hou winning gold at the 2020 Paralympic Games.
