Misbun Sidek is not ready to meet Lee Chong Wei, who returned home last week after undergoing treatment for nose cancer in Chinese Taipei.

Since returning to Malaysia, Lee had been visited by the likes of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Norza Zakaria and former Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

However, the national men's singles head coach said he was constantly in touch with his protege by phone to get updates on Lee's condition.

"I do not want our meeting to become emotional which would not be good for him. Therefore, I am giving him the space.

"I will see him when he is ready and more open,” he told reporters at Academy Badminton Malaysia on Tuesday.

Misbun also said the 35-year-old's playing career was not as important as his full recovery

"I hope no matter what, whether he still wants to continue playing or not, he will quickly recover," he added.
