Beregu lelaki profesional negara, Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong, mara ke final Kejohanan Badminton Masters Korea Selatan di Gwangju hari ini untuk mengintai slot ke Kejohanan Akhir Jelajah Dunia Persekutuan Badminton Dunia (BWF) di Guangzhou, China bulan depan.
Ia merupakan penampilan final kedua pasangan negara itu sepanjang musim ini selepas menjuarai Masters Thailand, Januari lalu.
Gandingan itu berpeluang menambah gelaran antarabangsa susulan menundukkan beregu pilihan kelapan dari Korea Selatan, Choi Sol-gyu-Seo Seung Jae, 16-21, 21-15, 21-19 dalam separuh akhir.
Turun selaku pilihan ketujuh, V Shem-Wee Kiong, bagaimanapun, bermula perlahan dalam set pertama apabila ketinggalan 6-14 sebelum merapatkan jurang kepada 14-16.
Tetapi mereka gagal memintas pasangan tuan rumah itu untuk tewas 16-21.
Dalam set berikutnya, V Shem-Wee Kiong memulakan episod kebangkitan mereka dengan mendahului 15-8 sebelum menang 21-15.
Penguasaan itu diteruskan pemenang pingat perak Sukan Olimpik Rio 2016 berkenaan untuk mendahului 11-2 dalam set penentuan sebelum menamatkan perhitungan selama 56 minit itu dengan kemenangan 21-19.
Turut mara ke final adalah beregu campuran negara, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai, yang menewaskan pasangan Taiwan, Lee Jhe Huei-Hsu Ya Ching, dalam separuh akhir.
