He also described the politician as “young, dynamic and progressive”.

“He is also sports inclined and active, and we feel he is the right candidate to take the national body to the next level.
“My tenure as President is until 2025. But I chose to resign because of reasons I explained to the committee. We have a few keystakeholders, and so there should be a seamless transition for the change to happen,” he said.
Zafrul, who was also the country’s Finance Minister in the previous government administration, has a diverse skill set that he can bring to the table.
Besides ensuring the association is financially sound to make the right investments for its shuttlers, the 50-year-old can also bring his vast experience gained in the corporate leadership to ensure a progressive administration.
Other developments from the council meeting saw the official appointment of Rexy Mainaky as the national coaching director.
Former Indonesian shuttler Jeffer Rosobin was also announced as the new head of juniors to replace the vacancy left by Misbun Sidek.
