Malaysia easily overcame Kazakhstan 5-0 on Wednesday to all but secure their place in the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships quarter-finals.

As expected, the national team were a completely changed side from the one that beat hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday.

Wong Ching Ling started as the women's singles representative as she easily beat Aisha Zhumabek 21-6, 21-13.

Leong Jun Hao was next in the men's singles and he also coasted to a 21-12, 21-16 win over Dmitriy Panarin.

Women's doubles pair Goh Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing then confirmed the win with a 21-7, 21-7 victory over Nargiza Rakhmetullaya-Kamila Smagulova 21-7, 21-7.

Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, who were rested against UAE, also had no problems taking down Khaitmurat Kulmatov-Artur Niyazov 21-5, 21-17.

The 5-0 demolition was complete through recent mixed doubles champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, who beat Makhsut Tadzhibullaev-Aisha Zhumabek 21-9, 21-10.

The big group test will come against India on Thursday, with the winners of the match-up securing a more favourable last-eight tie on paper.

Malaysia will most likely be back to full strength against India, with Lee Zii Jia, Goh Jin Wei and Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah all returning to action.

The biggest selection headache will be whether to stick with Chia-Soh, or field Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi for the men's doubles match.
