Malaysia ended their 2018 Commonwealth Games campaign with seven gold medals, bettering their 2014 tally by one.
Vivian Hoo and Chow Mei Kuan clinched Malaysia's seventh and final gold medal after beating English pair Lauren Smith and Sarah Walker in the women's doubles final on Sunday.
It came shortly after national shuttler Lee Chong Wei defeated world no.1 Srikanth Kidambi for the men's singles gold.
Their final day success meant Malaysia ended the Games the way they started it, when national weightlifter Azroy Hazalwafie Izhar Ahmad broke two Commonwealth Games records en route to a gold medal before Aznil Bidin bagged another weighlifting gold medal for Malaysia.
The country's other gold medals came from Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong, lawn bowl pair Siti Zalina Ahmad and Emma Firyana Saroji stunning defending champions South Africa, and Amy Kwan becoming only the second Malaysian rhythmic gymnast to win an individual Games gold.

With seven gold medals, it equalled Malaysia's tally of Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006, while the 2010 edition in New Delhi remains the country's best gold medal return with 12.
Although there were several disappointing results in Gold Coast such as Nicol David going home empty-handed, Azizulhasni Awang coming up short, and Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong failing to defend their men's doubles gold, there were several surprise accomplishments.
Malaysia won their first Games medal in athletics in 16 years thanks to Afiq Ali Hanafiah, and national paddlers Ho Ying and Karen Lyne finished with a surprise women's doubles bronze medal, which was the country's first in non-team events.

Squash player Nafiizwan Adnan won his maiden Games medal and the national men's 4x100 relay team made it to the final.
World champions were also downed by Malaysians as Shah Firdaus Sahrom beat keirin champion and home favourite Matthew Glaetzer, and Rachel Arnold and S. Sivasangari teamed up to stun world doubles squash champions Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy.

Malaysia also claimed five silver and 12 bronze medals to make it a total of 24 medals won, five more than they managed at Glasgow 2014.
