As expected, Malaysia got off to a winning start at the Asia Mixed Team Championships after thrashing hosts United Arab Emirates 5-0 on Tuesday.
The national team were not going to take anything lightly against their Middle East opponents, and fielded a team consisting of Lee Zii Jia, Goh Jin Wei and Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah among others.

Lee gave the Malaysians the lead as he overcame Bharath Latheesh 21-12, 21-15 in a 31-minute contest.
Goh Jin Wei then doubled Malaysia’s lead as she whacked Madhumitha Sundarapandian 21-0, 21-7 in the second match.
Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi made it 3-0 with a 21-11, 21-13 triumph over Dev-Dhiren Ayyapan, before Tan-Thinaah beat Sanika Gurav-Taabia Khan 21-9, 21-8 for 4-0.
The whitewash was sealed when mixed doubles pair Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing overcame Dev Vishnu-Aleena Qathun 21-10, 21-9.
Malaysia will play Kazakhstan tomorrow before the big match against India on Thursday.
India also easily overcame Kazakhstan 5-0 to top Group B, after conceding less points than Malaysia.
Both teams notched 210 points, but India conceded 80 compared to Malaysia's 94.
The national team are likely to field their second stringers including Leong Jun Hao, Teoh Mei-Goh Pei Kee against Kazakhstan.
