Former Malaysian shuttler Goh Liu Ying announced she gave to her newborn on National Day with a picture of her baby in a crib accompanied by several national flags.

“Welcome to the new world, my Merdeka baby. Saya Anak Malaysia,” posted Goh on her social media on Thursday.

Despite her pregnancy this year, the former mixed doubles ace kept herself busy by delving into her work such as launching her 3v3 badminton initiative and opening her own GLY Badminton Hall in her hometown in Malacca.

Besides that, the 2016 Olympic silver medalist also launched her own gown rental shop in Kuala Lumpur.

Life moved on the fast line for the 34-year-old ever since she hung her badminton racquet in January, which was followed by her pregnancy announcement.

Last year saw Goh's career stagnate after she split ways with long-term partner Chan Peng Soon.

Goh tried playing with different partners including Ong Yew Sin and Soong Joo Ven, but failed to find any sustained success with either of them.

2019 came as her best year in recent times as she clinched the Thailand Masters and New Zealand Open with Chan.
