Korea Masters: Tang Jie-Ee Wei, Soon Huat-Shevon fall in semi-finals
Mixed doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai both lost in straight games at the Korea Masters semi-finals on Saturday, which ultimately ended Malaysia’s campaign at the event.
The first match of the day saw South Koreans Seo Seung-jae-Chae Yu-jung too hot for Chen-Toh to handle, as the top seeds romped to a 21-14, 21-17 victory in under 40-minutes at the Gwanju Women’s University Stadium.
Despite the loss, the Malaysians can still be proud of their efforts against the reigning world champions on their home turf as they showed good fighting spirit especially in the second game.

It was also not to be for Goh-Lai, who succumbed to a 19-21, 15-21 defeat against China’s second seeds Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin.
The fifth seeded independent pair had done well to reach the last four after beating Kim Won-ho-Jeong Na-eun in the last eight, but that energy sapping victory took its toll on Saturday and the Chinese pair capitalized.
Most of the Malaysian shuttlers will next be heading to the Kumamoto Masters in Japan next week, including men’s singles shuttlers Lee Zii Jia and Ng Tze Yong.
