Top seeds Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik cruised into the Korea Masters semi-finals after a straightforward 21-17, 21-12 victory over South Korean pair Kim Jae-hyeon-Lee Sang-won in the last eight on Friday.
The Malaysians are favourites to win this Super 300 event, and based on their quarter-finals performance the rest of the field will have to produce something special to upstage them.
Kim-Lee led the first game 9-6, but that proved the only highlight of their match as Chia-Soh took control after they were fully warmed up.
After the first game was sealed, the Malaysians cruised through the second game and Chia even managed to produce some tricks midway through, an indication of the pair’s dominance.
Victory was sealed after 33-minutes, and the world number six pair will now go on to face either Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Hsiang-chieh-Wang Chi-lin or Chinese pair Xie Hao Nan-Zeng Wei Han for a place in the final.
The two-time Olympic bronze medalists are competing in this event to regain some competitive match fitness after Soh’s injury layoff from a fractured toe after the Paris Olympics.
