Gandingan beregu campuran, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing, menceriakan kem negara dengan kemaraan ke final Grand Prix (GP) Emas Terbuka Thailand di Bangkok selepas menyingkirkan pasangan tuan rumah, Puavaranukroh Dechapol-Sapsiree Taerattanachai, 22-24, 21-17, 21-14 petang ini.
Set pertama menyaksikan Kian Meng-Pei Jing lebih dahulu berada di depan tetapi beberapa kesilapan seterusnya membuka ruang kepada Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree untuk mengutip mata.
Gandingan negara dilihat mempunyai peluang keemasan untuk memenangi set pertama. Malangnya mereka gagal untuk menggunakan kelebihan itu, sebaliknya akur tewas 22-24.
Memasuki set kedua, aksi bertenaga terus ditampilkan oleh kedua-dua beregu. Kesilapan membiarkan pasangan Thailand mencuri kemenangan dalam set pertama berjaya ditebus oleh gandingan negara apabila mereka merampas set kedua 21-17.
Kian Meng-Pei Jing meneruskan momentum kemenangan dalam set ketiga. Beregu tuan rumah yang kelihatan sedikit kepenatan, gagal untuk mengejar apabila pertembungan satu jam lapan minit itu dinoktahkan dengan kemenangan buat Malaysia 21-14.
