Perkembangan Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin di dalam gelanggang tidak menjadi kegusaran barisan kejurulatihan negara yang sebaliknya lebih memfokus kepada perwatakan pemain itu di luar gelanggang.
Dalam tempoh setahun, Iskandar sudah mempamer aksi meningkat naik, sekaligus meletakkan dirinya sebagai perseorangan terbaik negara selepas Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
Bagaimanapun, Iskandar masih perlu membentuk perwatakan seperti sang juara membabitkan disiplin dengan menjaga pemakanan, intensiti latihan dan persediaan sebelum menghadapi kejohanan.
Ini antara aspek yang dikenal pasti jurulatih perseorangan, Hendrawan, sewaktu membimbing Iskandar ketika kempennya di Eropah dan pemerhatian sepanjang musim ini.
"Saya harap dia akan menjadi lebih matang.
"Ini kerana jika mahu menjadi seorang juara, ia bukan datang daripada sesi latihan sahaja. Karektor itu perlu hadir dalam kehidupan harian dan tanggungjawabnya terhadap penjagaan makan dan rehat.
"Karektor itu masih belum dipamerkan. Jika dia mahu menduduki kelompok 10 terbaik dunia, dia perlu menampakkan karektor itu," jelasnya.
Dalam pada itu, Hendrawan akur dengan pandangan bekas ketua jurulatih negara, Datuk Misbun Sidek, terhadap keperluan Iskandar untuk mempelbagaikan teknik dalam menghadapi lawan.
"Saya mahu tingkatkan kelajuan, kekuatan pukulan dan fizikalnya," tambahnya.
