Justin Hoh missed out on his second title of the year after the young national shuttler lost 12-21, 20-22 to Chinese Taipei's Cheng Kai at the Northern Marianas Open men's singles final on Sunday.
The 19-year-old Hoh was on his way to taking the game to a decider after leading the second game, but several unforced errors and misjudgements from his opponent's returns meant the final was decided in straight games.
Despite the loss, the fifth seeded Hoh did well to reach the final after dispatching all his other opponents in convincing fashion.
The KL-born was seeking his second silverware of the year after winning the Slovenia Open earlier this year.
What is certain is that Hoh's career is picking up pace.
He won the Uganda International title last year, along with a runner-up finish at the Iran International.
In 2022, he won three titles in Germany, Croatia and Malaysia.
For the record, the Northern Marianas Open is held at the Northern Marianas Islands located at the Oceanic region.
