National men’s singles shuttler Jacky Kok will get to feature in his biggest international tournament after he earned a last-minute call-up to the Hylo Open which begins on Tuesday.
Kok got his opportunity after Denmark stars Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen both pulled out of the Super 500 event taking place in Germany.

This paved the way for the world number 74 Malaysian to make his top-tier tournament debut, where he will face Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen in the first round.
Last year, Kok competed at the Thailand Open (Super 500) qualifying round, but failed to make it into the main draw.
This year, the 23-year-old played in the Malaysia Masters qualifying round, but lost in his first qualifying match.
The Kedah-born has mainly played in Super 100 events this year, with his best result coming at the Vietnam International Challenge where he finished second.
Leong Jun Hao is the other Malaysian shuttler who will contest at the Hylo Open main draw, where he faces an Indian opponent.
National mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, meanwhile, have pulled out following a shoulder injury to Chen.
