Indonesia Open: Yew Sin-Ee Yi squeeze through to second round
Asian Championships runners-up Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi were Malaysia's only victors on day one of the Indonesia Open on Tuesday.
The world number seven pair lost the opening game but kept their nerves to beat Indian pair M.R. Arjun-Dhruv Kapila 12-21, 21-6, 22-20 after an hour’s action at the Istora Senayan.
The eighth seeds should be due a testing tie against home pair Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin in the second round.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Malaysians in action couldn’t deliver on Tuesday and exited after the opening round action.
Ng Tze Yong managed to nick a game off Shi Yu Qi, but ended up losing 7-21, 21-17, 13-21.
The world number 21 later said a slow start in the deciding game where he trailed 1-11 proved too much for the comeback.
In the mixed doubles, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai lost against Rehan Naufal-Lisa Ayu 21-13, 24-26, 17-21, and it was the same case for Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, who were beaten in three close games.
Women’s doubles pair Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien were beaten in straight games by another Indonesian pair, and Goh Jin Wei was given a 11-21, 11-21 humbling by Carolina Marin.
Defending men’s singles champion Viktor Axelsen, meanwhile, showed no rustiness after a hamstring injury lay-off as he brushed aside Weng Hong Yang who beat Lee Zii Jia last week, in straight games.
