Tan-Thinaah showed tremendous fighting spirit to win the opening game.
Trailing 7-14, there seemed little chance for the Malaysians to find their way back, but that's exactly what Tan-Thinaah did by exerting pressure on their world number one opponents.
Even when Tan-Liu held game point, Tan-Thinaah fought back to save it and eventually win it 25-23.
The Chinese pair stormed back to win the second game in comfortable fashion to take this tie into a deciding game.
Tan-Thinaah started well to take a 9-4 lead, but Liu-Tan clawed their way back to ensure a tense finish.
At 19-19, it was a matter of who could hold their nerves, and it was the Chinese pair who prevailed by securing the final two points to victory.
