Zulfadli Zulkiffli insisted that he was innocent after he was barred from all badminton activities for 20 years by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
Despite pleading his innocence and attending a hearing session in Singapore in February, the Malaysian shuttler as well as Tan Chun Seang were found guilty of being involved in match-fixing.
Following the verdict, the 2011 world junior champion told Astro Arena that he would appeal against the decision.
"For me, the BWF's decision is wrong and baseless, so I will make an appeal as I am unhappy to be accused without any proof.
"I had gone to Singapore the other day to prove my innocence, but the BWF still deemed that I am guilty.
"I am a victim, not an accused. For now, I will not comment any further, but I might release a statement in the next few days," he said.
