Hendrawan, Tze Yong to analyse first-round opponent ahead of World Championships
Malaysia men’s singles chief Hendrawan will get to work with Ng Tze Yong to study his first-round opponent Zhao Jun Peng ahead of the BWF World Championships happening later this month in Denmark.
Both shuttlers never met each other, and the Indonesian coach was eager to learn more about the 27-year-old Chinese, who claimed bronze at last year’s edition.
“Tze Yong has not reached a level where he can be seeded just yet, so we have to accept the draw. But he has already developed a certain standard in his gameplay, and as long as he can deliver his best game, he can win matches.

“Tze Yong has not met Jun Peng or [Anders] Antonsen just yet, so in the coming days we will analyse these two players,” said Hendrawan.
The 23-year-old Malaysian produced quality performances in patches this year and claimed several big names including Viktor Axelsen, Loh Kean Yew, Jonatan Christie and Chou Tien-chen.
The Johor-born came within a whisker of upsetting Lee Zii Jia at the Australian Open last eight last week, but the independent shuttler nicked the third game 21-19.
Hendrawan said Ng’s performance in that match proved he can continue to bridge the gap against his compatriot.
“Before this, I would say their levels were quite far, but he showed us a positive performance in Australia. The World Championships is a big event, so if he manages to handle the pressure, it will be a massive plus point for him.
“At this point, we have to admit that Tze Yong and Zii Jia are the best in the country.”
Should he beat Zhao, Ng will most likely meet Antonsen in the second round of the world meet taking place in Copenhagen from August 21-27.
Lee, meanwhile, take on Christie in the opening match.
