Huang Ying How, chef de mission (CDM) of the Malaysian contingent to the 2018 Commonwealth Games, remains unfazed after Malaysia missed several gold medal opportunities.
The contingent was given a target of finishing in the top 10 at Gold Coast 2018, besides surpassing the tally of six gold medals in Glasgow four years ago.
After starting well with two gold medals in weightlifting on day one, Malaysia endured a tough time in other events.
Azizulhasni Awang finished sixth in the men's keirin as the track cycling team walked away empty-handed, Khairul Hafiz Jantan crashed out in the first-round heat of the men's 100m, Nicol David failed to defend her gold medal, and the badminton mixed team lost to India in the final.

Despite the several setbacks, Huang believes Malaysia can still meet their targets.
"I see that the top 10 target is still possible because we are only halfway into the competition," he told Astro Arena on Monday after the badminton mixed team collected their silver medal.
"Although we have only got two gold medals in weightlifting so far, there are still many events remaining.
"[For example] we still have diving events and let's not forget about squash, which we have already won one bronze medal and will be playing in the doubles, so we still have chances [to win more gold medals]."
