German Open: Justin to face Thailand Masters champ after hard-earned win

National men’s singles shuttlers Justin Hoh and Cheam June Wei will face Singaporean opponents at the German Open second round, with both matches coming against higher ranked opponents.
Hoh set-up a clash against recent Thailand Masters champion Jason Teh after he secured a hard-fought 21-19, 19-21, 21-19 victory against Japanese Takuma Obayashi.
The world number 51 showed good courage to claw back a five-point deficit in the deciding game to come away with the morale-boosting victory.

Cheam had an easier time against Chinese Taipei’s Sun Li-yang after he secured a 23-21, 21-13 victory.
But the shuttler has his work cut out for him as he will next face second seeded Loh Kean Yew.
National mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin were also through and will face China’s Gao Jia Xuan-Wu Meng Ying early Friday morning.
World number four Viktor Axelsen is the biggest name in this European event, as he plans to use this Super 300 tournament to regain match fitness ahead of next week’s All-England.
