Ng Tze Yong was through to the French Open semi-finals after world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn conceded a walkover in their quarter-final match on Friday.
The world number 18 will go on to face either Li Shi Feng or Anthony Ginting in his third semi-final appearance of the season after the Hong Kong and Arctic Open.
Ng will be relishing the given break before he squares off against either men, who are known for their explosive speed.
The national men’s singles is the only Malaysian representative left in this Super 750 after Lee Zii Jia, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai and Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien all exited in the second round on Thursday.
Lee lost in three games against Li, and it was the same for Goh-Lai against their Hong Kong opponents.
Hoo-Lim meanwhile lost in straight games against Apriyani Rahayu-Siti Fadia Ramadhanti.
