French Open: Tze Yong lost to Asian Games champion Shi Feng
Malaysia’s involvement ended in the French Open semi-finals after Ng Tze Yong went down in straight games 17-21, 12-21 against reigning Asian Games champion Li Shi Feng.
The match was over in 47 minutes, with Li never really given a stern examination by the Malaysian.
The Chinese shuttler pulled away after the 11-point break in the first game with a 20-13 lead before converting the lead.
Ng’s chances were over almost as soon as the second game began, as he trailed Li 1-11.
The world number five soon converted the victory, where he goes on to face Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in the final.
Other final match-ups taking place in the Super 750 event see Jiang Zeng Bang-Wei Ya Xin face Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet for the mixed doubles title and Tai Tzu-ying up against Chen Yu Fei in the women’s singles final.
Meanwhile, the women’s doubles crown is contested between Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning-Jongkolphan Kititharakul-Rawinda Prajonglai and Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarp Rasmussen battle Shohibul Fikri-Bagas Maulana for the men’s doubles title.
