The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have announced former national shuttler K. Yogendran will join their men’s singles coaching department.
The 39-year-old will join the coaching set-up headed by men’s singles chief Hendrawan and assisted by Tey Seu Bock.
The KL-born, who will report for duty at the Academy Badminton Malaysia on December 1, comes with a vast coaching experience including being the head coach of the Mauritius national team.
He previously had also set-up his own academy in Kerala, India in 2018 with the objective of developing badminton there.
Before that, he also teamed up with ex-national team-mate Yeoh Kay Bin to coach at the New Vision Badminton Academy in Petaling Jaya.
As a singles shuttler, Yogendran won several titles at lower ranked events between 2010 and 2013.
He also had relative success as a men’s doubles player when he teamed up with India’s Prajakta Sawant to win the Mauritius and Egypt International titles in 2017.
Yogendran, who achieved a highest rank of 61st, will be the second new arrival next month after Indonesian great Rexy Mainaky was appointed as the national body deputy coaching director.
