Malaysian men’s doubles shuttler Teo Ee Yi could be dealt a big blow after revealing he may be forced to withdraw from the India Open this week after a wrongful visa application.

“I made the mistake of wrongly applying for my E-visa with my old passport. Due to this, I am denied entry into India and the immigration officials are saying they want to send me back.

“I am trying to get an emergency visa now. If I can’t, I will have to withdraw from the India Open,” Teo updated of his situation on social media.

If the worst case scenario happens, Teo will have to pull out with partner Ong Yew Sin from the Super 750 event held in New Delhi.

The pair are due to face Japan’s Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi, who beat them in straight games at last week’s Malaysia Open quarter-finals.

The independent pair are also set to lose precious Olympic ranking points should they not compete.

Teo-Ong are already facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Olympics in the Race To Paris rankings.

They are currently ranked 11th, and will need to make it into the top eight to qualify.
