Ee Wei needed 16 stitches after suffering arm injury at ABM gym

National mixed doubles shuttler Toh Ee Wei required 16 stitches after suffering injuries to her left arm during a workout session at the national training centre on Wednesday.

The freak accident transpired after Toh slipped while holding a dumbbell at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) gymnasium.

As a result, the shuttler has also suffered a grade two muscle tear in her back.

"I consider myself lucky that the glass didn't hit my head or playing hand as the situation could have been worse," Toh told Bernama

The Korea Open champion was rushed to the hospital by an ABM physiotherapist and is now recovering at her home in Malacca.

Toh and her partner Chen Tang Jie were slated to participate at the Denmark Open next month.
