Denmark Open: Aaron-Wooi Yik clinch elusive first World Tour title
Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik finally claimed their elusive title on the World Tour after the Malaysians were crowned Denmark Open champions courtesy of a dominant victory, while Lee Zii Jia was beaten in straight games.
Chia-Soh made personal history after they beat Shohibul Fikri-Bagas Maulana in straight games 21-13, 21-17, while Lee faltered against China’s Weng Hong Yang 12-21, 6-21.
While it was heartache for Lee who fell in a second consecutive Denmark Open final, Chia-Soh turned heroes for the country and celebrated the win they had waited for six years.

After turning in a fired-up performance in the semi-finals to oust home pair Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarp Rasmussen, the world number four knew they needed to bring the same intensity against Fikri-Maulana in the Super 750 event's final.
They sprung upon the Indonesians from the first serve, and sensing their opponents were riddled with nerves, capitalised in fine fashion.
Chia was deployed in the front court and his deft touches left Fikri-Maulana exposed, while Soh had more room to show off his creative shot returns that many times went unanswered.
After three big finals which they lost this year, this time the victory was clinched in triumphant fashion following the one-sided victory.
For Weng, it was also a landslide victory in the men’s singles final as the Chinese made light work of Lee in both games.
The left-handler was never an easy customer for the Malaysian, having now won three in four of their meetings.
Weng was in command from the start, and Lee had no reply to his precise attacking prowess that was executed in both corners of the court.
Nothing went Lee’s way in this final, and coupled with his slew of unforced errors, the final slipped away fairly quickly.
Nonetheless, the 25-year-old can be proud of reaching back-to-back finals’, one of which he won in Finland at the Arctic Open last week.
