Ng Tze Yong's impressive 2022 Commonwealth Games form continued as he advanced into the men's singles semi-finals at the expense of world champion Loh Kean Yew.

The world number 42, meeting the Malaysian-born Singaporean for the first time, had a 15-14 lead in the first game but an error-strewn endgame saw him surrended seven straight points to Loh.

However, he bounced back in the second game, winning 21-14.

He maintained his form in the third game as he jumped on Loh with eight straight points, helped him control the game and eventually sealed the win with a 21-11 score.

It was his second giant-killing act in Birmingham after defeating former world number one Srikanth Kidambi in the mixed team final against India to help Malaysia clinch a gold medal.
