Ng Tze Yong's impressive 2022 Commonwealth Games form continued as he advanced into the men's singles semi-finals at the expense of world champion Loh Kean Yew.

The world number 42, meeting the Malaysian-born Singaporean for the first time, had a 15-14 lead in the first game but an error-strewn endgame saw him surrended seven straight points to Loh.

However, he bounced back in the second game, winning 21-14.

He maintained his form in the third game as he jumped on Loh with eight straight points, helped him control the game and eventually sealed the win with a 21-11 score.

It was his second giant-killing act in Birmingham after defeating former world number one Srikanth Kidambi in the mixed team final against India to help Malaysia clinch a gold medal.

Ng joined mixed doubles team-mates Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing in the semi-finals after they beat home pair Callum Hemming-Jessica Pugh 22-20, 21-11 earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, women's singles shuttler Goh Jin Wei crashed out after losing 21-19, 14-21, 18-21 to India's P. V. Sindhu and Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See were knocked out 15-21, 19-21 by Scottish duo Adam Hall-Julie MacPherson in the mixed doubles.

At the time of writing, the other Malaysian players of Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah (women's doubles), Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik (men's doubles) and Chan-Tan (men's doubles) are still in contention to reach the semi-finals.
