Ng Tze Yong is set to take on his toughest opponent of his career with world champion Loh Kean Yew waiting for him in Saturday's men's singles quarter-finals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The world number 42, who pulled off an incredible win against Srikanth Kidambi in the mixed team final, beat Ajfan Rasheed of Maldives 21-7, 21-9 in his Round of 16 match on Friday.

Meanwhile, his Singaporean opponent had no issues dispatching of Mauritius' Alexandre Jean Bernard Bongout 21-13, 21-10.

Form-wise, Ng is currently on an eight-match winning run in Birmingham, while Loh lost once to Lakshya Sen and was pushed to the limit by England's Toby Penty during the mixed team event.

At the time of writing, fellow Malaysian shuttlers Goh Jin Wei (women's singles), Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik (men's doubles) and Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah (women's doubles) also checked into the quarter-finals.
