Commonwealth Games: Ironman Kian Meng earns well-deserved badminton bronze, denied a second

Malaysian shuttler Tan Kian Meng showcased his incredible stamina as he powered to two badminton bronze medal matches at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The 28-year-old doubles specialist played a total of 13 matches in the last 10 days in Birmingham, with three in the mixed team gold medal success.

The Johorean's incredible feat included four matches in the span of 12 hours on Sunday.

After losing his two semi-final matches earlier in the day, he and regular partner Lai Pei Jing took down Scottish pair Adam Hall and Julie MacPherson 21-15, 21-17 for the mixed doubles bronze medal.

Then his scratch pairing with Chan Peng Soon battled first seeds and national compatriots Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the men's doubles bronze medal match for more than an hour.

His younger and fresher opponents went on to win 21-19, 11-21, 21-11 to deny him a second bronze medal.
