Chong Wei, Syed Saddiq visit Momota after highway accident

Lee Chong Wei and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman were among those paying Kento Momota a visit at the Putrajaya Hospital after the latter was involved in an early morning accident in Malaysia.
The Japanese ace suffered from a broken nose and a fractured cheekbone among other facial injuries after the van ferrying him and several badminton officials to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport crashed into the back of a trailer in the wee hours on Monday morning.
Lee, whose last professional match was against Momota in 2018, said the current world number one was doing well.
"He is fine, I just spoke to him. At this time, he just needs to get enough rest. No one wants this kind of tragedy to happen, it is unfortunate.
"Let us all pray for his speedy recovery," he said.

Momota had clinched the Malaysia Masters men's singles title after he downed Denmark's Viktor Axelsen 24-22, 21-11 on Sunday.
The others hurt in the accident were Japan badminton coach Hirayama Yi, physiotherapist Morimoto Akifumi and Badminton World Federation (BWF) technical officer William Thomas.
The driver of the van, N.Bavan, died on the spot after he was pinned to the vehicle.
Momota had skipped the Indoensia Masters scheduled to begin on Tuesday to return home and get a much needed rest after a hectic 2019 which saw him win 11 titles.
