As expected, Lee Chong Wei will take the court against Viktor Axelsen when Malaysia face Denmark in the final Group D match of the 2018 Thomas Cup on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old, who was rested against Algeria on Tuesday, will play against the current world no.1, whom he lost to in their last three meetings.

The second match will see Tan Wee Kiong and Goh V Shem take on Mads Conrad-Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding

The Malaysian duo were victorious against the world no.5 pair in two of their three matches, with the latest one coming at the 2018 German Open.

The remaining games will see Lee Zii Jia face Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus, Aaron Chia and Teo Ee Yi duel with Mathias Boe and Mathias Christiansen, and Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin go up against Jan Ø. Jørgensen.

With both teams recording two wins out of two so far in Group D, the victors of this tie will top the group and avoid a potential tricky match-up against nine-time winners China, who finished top of Group A ahead of second-place France.

Both countries previously met each other in the 2016 edition, with Denmark knocking Malaysia out in the semi-finals en route to their maiden Thomas Cup success.

The Malaysia vs Denmark match is scheduled to start at 8:00pm (Malaysia time) on Astro Arena.
