China’s most decorated women’s doubles shuttler Chen Qing Chen announced her international retirement over the weekend after claiming her final career win over Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah.
Chen and her long-time partner Jia Yi Fan played their final match together at the French Open semi-finals, where they lost in straight games against compatriots Li Ying Jing-Luo Xu Min.

But Chen did manage to secure a final victory on the international stage against Tan-Thinaah.
Chen-Jia easily overcame the Malaysians in straight games 21-16, 21-16 on Friday, and increased their dominance over Tan-Thinaah with nine wins in 10 meetings.
Chen-Jia’s chemistry stood out despite only recently being reunited since their split after the Paris Olympics where they won gold.
The pair also made it to the Denmark Open semis last week, which made it a sweet reunion.
“To be able to return to a high level and reach back-to-back semifinals, I think we are really satisfied,” Chen told BWF of their return.
Chen is also a four-time world champion and won 19 titles on the World Tour.
For Tan-Thinaah, their European tour came with mixed results.
The pair won the Arctic Open title, before reaching the second round in Denmark and reaching last eight of the French Open.
“We didn’t get the perfect ending, but we found new strength and focus. We will rest, recharge and start again,” said Tan.
