Those scenes would not have been made possible if Liu Yu Chen-Ou Xuan Yi didn't initiate one of the most amazing comebacks in the history of this tournament against Japan a day earlier.
Trailing 16-20 in the rubber game against Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi with the Japanese only needing a point to make the final, Liu-Ou saved four game points to win the match and make it 2-2, before women's doubles pair Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan won to seal their final passage.

The Malaysian contingent also made the podium by taking home a bronze medal, as they looked in good spirits smiling and joking around before the ceremony.
Most of these shuttlers will be in action soon at the Axiata Arena for the Malaysia Masters, which begins on Tuesday.
