Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin completed another remarkable outing to secure the China Open men's doubles title after they came from behind to beat home pair Ren Xiang Yu-He Ji Ting 13-21, 21-12, 21-17.

Earlier on Sunday's session, Malaysian pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai finished second in the mixed doubles.

But the day belonged to Goh-Izzuddin, who claimed another prestigious title having secured the Japan Open three weeks ago.

By winning this Super 1000 event, the new professional pair ended a 35-year drought for a men's doubles title at the China Open since Razif Sidek-Jalani Sidek won it back in 1989.

The world number 12 pair secured their title after an injury to Ren in the first game hampered the fifth seeds' performance.

But the Chinese were giving it everything, so the Malaysians needed to be still be at their best to come away with their biggest career performance.

Goh-Izzuddin's win means China only missed out on the men's doubles title, having won all the other four events on Sunday.

In the second final of the day, Goh- Lai put in a gutsy display against Feng Tan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping but were ultimately beaten 21-16, 14-21, 17-21 by the Chinese champions.

The Malaysians claimed the first game after a slow start to unsettle their opponents, but Feng-Huang improved in the ensuing two games and used the home support to their advantage.

But credit must be given to Goh-Lai, who who fought until the final point.

When they got the service at 11-20 in the deciding game, the husband-wife combination clawed back six consecutive points before the Chinese crossed the finish line much to their relief.

The world number 12 pair will still be pleased with their outing, having reached their biggest career final yet.

This year, Goh-Lai have already won the Swiss Open and Malaysia Masters.
